Chapter 19

So I've just turned 19 yesterday.

Well, all I can say is that: DAY WELL SPENT.

Words can't describe how much gratitude I have for my Programmers. The company itself was very much enough already, but when topped with gifts and good food, it made out to be a blast of a time.

Akashi serves great Japanese fare, if you're looking for those, that's the place to go to. Also, I've got a food voucher because the whole table was under blinged under the VIP status, all thanks to Wesley. Haha, seriously, thanks so much for your arrangements. (Returning the favour by plugging the ad right in the middle)

Got cake on my face, again. The skin beside my ears and cheeks have been kinda itchy for the past day, hahaha, let's just say my skin doesn't like to be greased. Bus-ed down to Bugis to find Shan, before heading to Cafe Blu Jaz, an awesome place to chill, right next Haji Lane. Had a White Russian prepared by a Pinoy Bartender, ain't half bad as compared to the one I had on Star Cruise. I don't know why, but I'm not really a fan of cocktails with too many fruits in it, if you know me well enough, you'd know why. Haha. Was tempted to have an Erdinger/Kilkenny's instead, but if I did have one, i'd be all fart-machine today.

At the end of it all, I had a really good time like no other.

THANK YOU SO MUCH ALL YOU PROGRAMMERS, YOU GUYS ROCK MA SOCKS ,YO.

I'd also like to thank my awesome family for the seafood treat at The Red House (Hong Lou something). The chilli crab had gravy to sell your souls for. Not so much for the crab, cos it was too big and had come off a little too bitter for my liking. Nonetheless, the gravy still managed to somewhat permeate the flesh. Also, if you visit that place, go for the Soon Hock done deep fried with a soy sauce base. Really good, but ours was really small, cos we kinda reached late; an hour before closing in fact. I'd also like to thank BIG for that KFC dinner and a job well done for Business Day.

On a lighter note, Benedict's the new class rep, voice for the voiceless.

Oh, one more thing. Thanks for all the nothings, really. Just puzzles me though, how come I'd have nothing "last-minute" to attend nor am "sick enough" to skip my attendance? Let's just say reciprocation is not their thing.

Even though this has been joyous on overall, I'm still kinda scarred and left to bleed.

SL Camp- revisited

Ok, i shall log my journey into a camp that i will never forget about.

Caution: Long entry ahead. Really.

Day 0
This was the day that the subcomms and maincomms gathered for preparations in lieu with the camp. I reached school on the dot, having caught a cab that had me fearing for my 1 little life. Saw KB, Sharyl and Sam and went on to slack. When most people came, all of us set off to get mud, that's right, mud. I gathered my bit from a marsh next to the cement pavement. Buses drove really slowly to see what i was doing. I made 2 cyclists lose balance cos I was in a frenzy digging for mud (well, once you're in this shit, you might as well do it fast and get it over and done with right?). Went over to Kandis, Keng Kee and Shan's side to help them with their digging. I swear, they had an uphill task with it. They didn't really had much mud to begin with, in fact, it was sand and it kinda smelled like dog poo. After adding water to loosen it, we saw lots of well, organisms, which kinda freaked Kandis out, along with the point that the concoction looking like horlicks. Went back to school and chilled a while before our log items were ready. Spent some time on my computer with the videos and had lots of trouble sleeping. I didn't bathe before i bunked in, which kinda brought about limitless itching around the calves and ankles. Of course, needless to say, I didn't sleep much

Day 1

Woke up from what little sleep I had and took that absolutely necessary shower. Every programmer was decked in green. Had a lite breakfast first and I continued to process the videos on my laptop. When the SLs came, the group was split up in 2 factions, one to deal with Champoly and the other to head the admin side of things. Me and Kannan went around school to gather the remaining items for Champoly. The game was initially well-received at the briefing, but when it came to playing, neh.

The game took too long to play and everybody landed in the bankrupt tile. I think Myrine had 1 of everything and got repossessed later, damn sad. Some of SLs said it was boring, some of them said it was a good concept, but i felt that at least the deed was done and many improvements could be made. Was emceeing for 15 minutes before I had a bad stomach and Wesley took over. If you asked me, there were many flaws in the game as there wasn't any piloting done before hand. I would prefer the treasure hunt concept, cos the prep work behind Champoly was nuts. After seeing so many bankrupt groups, we decided to reimburse all the groups with a pity package and I must say that their flags weren't too shabby. Post-Champoly was hell for me, I had a headache and basically everybody was slurring in speech in my ears. It took half a box of mentos to take it out of me, maybe I was low on blood sugar. Ah well.

In-school station games were next, right after an unenjoyable dinner (according to some), I thought it was good, cos when you're hungry, you'll eating anything. When the groups came, there wasn't really a mad rush for us as everything was done beforehand. The best group I felt was Hatshe as they bothered to sabo me, Calvin and Mei Yan. After everything, Idris topped the speed charts with 4 minutes and some 30 seconds. The cleaning up after that was heck, we had to scrub the benches with toilet paper and very little water AFTER we swept the floor that's full of flour. I had to walk away for a moment as I volunteered to keep the log items as well as to help Jia Min find a broom. Also mainly because I had lotsa flour in my eyes and I needed to clear it. When all was done, we went to 'help' out at biz park with the cleaning. Didn't really help much cos I had difficulty walking (from abrasions on the thighs caused from chaffing). Only did applying talc make me feel better. Had a debriefing session before we slept for the night, I was guilty of like 70% of the things Wes mentioned (yikes).

Up next was a showering session and a 30 minute nap on my favourite desks. Upon the beginning of that 1 minute after the aforementioned 30, I was woken up for the Cluedo meeting. Resolved certain issues and enjoyed my sleep afterwards, in a super comfy place.

Day 2

Woke up from a 1 1/2 hour nap and headed for breakfast at ITAS. Was put in charge of the Watermelon station. Kannan and Daniel thought of some idea to let them pass the time with the melons, instead of just plain eating. KB and myself added on to the ideas later and what a mess we've made. I had to pry open 6 watermelons with the knives that Keng Kee brought, damn tiring, considering I've only had very little sleep. When we gathered to eat the remnants of the SLs breakfast (cos slathering jam and kaya on bread was too leceh), we were shocked to actually find that the beehoon was to fantabulously delish. We whacked whatever we could find and man was it good.

Headed back to well, our HQ (3-20) and finished up a little bit on the admin details. I spent some time fine-tuning the storyboard for the remaining scenes before I requested for another nap at my favourite makeshift desk-beds. Slept till 11.20 and woke up to wait for Ming to discuss about our ideas. Waited for the designers to come at about 3 before we could actually begin some filming work. During that wait, i was helping Shan, Calvin and Jolene with their scenes and admin work. Spent time eating my dinner while lining up the tracks on the timeline while gathering feedback from the available programmers around. When it was finally completed, I felt a great tension eased from my head. Seemed like the main worry about this camp for me were the videos. I must say, the scenes were great and the finished products were applauded by some (despite it looking VERY amateurish, since we're amateurs after all). I felt bad though, when I was the only one left in the room under the comforts of air-conditioning while the rest had more physical stuff to do.

There wasn't any rest afterwards as everybody were gathered around the nightwalk areas to prepare the scenes. When the nightwalk actually opened, I was operating as a kidnapper, to isolate one SL from each empire. There was a bit of miscommunication that led to myself feeling rather pissed, which in turned pissed of a few (sorry people!), bad temper on my side. I felt that the kidnapping wasn't really easy to execute as we had to remain silent. Also, the SLs will keep asking questions as to why they are being led on to another place while drifting away from their empire. Only when some things were explained and some heads aired, was the programme given the green light to move. There was this Osei girl who was so scared shitless that she clung on to me bleddy tightly, I should charge for this escort service, I swear. She had to use the Cargo lift, which was ummm...freaky (and smelled like chicken rice). She got so freaked out she asked me to run across the hallway of level 5 with her. Thank god I had my lightband on, if not the 'ghosts' wouldn't have given face and scared us anyway. After the escorting session, I took off on my own to patrol the areas for lost sheep, while trying to replace my own walkie.

This was the time for me a to rest a wee bit before patrolling proper. Went over to Daniel's area, which was the super dark crime scene, found 5 bucks on the floor (woots, to the person who lost his/her $5 and is reading this, sorry, but there wasn't any name on it). I had welfare in mind ok? I bought drinks for the designers, cos the room was like awfully stuffy. All in all, the nightwalk was a success. But that wasn't it for us (Prog and Log comms), we had to clear up the classrooms and move the furniture around. We finally slept in at 5 freaking am.

Day 3 (Finally?)

Woke up at 7, took a shower and collected breakfast. I particularly enjoyed the spicy tuna sandwich, cos it was a nice way to wake yourself up (rather than coffee). Sat around and received briefings before catching up with Jo-an and her Arthios. Champions league was damn tiring for most of us, cos there was alot of running to do. Considering that all of us programmers only had 2 hours to sleep, it was an uphill task. But nevertheless, I or rather, we, had lotsa fun tagging around. Jo-an wasn't her lively self and her empire was running amok. It was hard to control them, but in the name of fun, i guess it would be anti-climatic to get them to obey. Had lots of fun talking to the Arthios people and Jo-an, cos I haven't really talked to her in since 2B09. lol.

Wet games ran on with lots of rushing man. Came back and barely had to time to sit down and rest and talk. Grabbed our log items and met Calvin and Samantha to prepare outside the library. Gerald joined us later cos he had some tallying to do with Vanesa (lol). We barely finished our lunch before the empires came (which were Arthios again and Caesion). In the midst of all things chaotic, the games went on without a hitch and these 2 groups are very accomodating. It's fun to punish them by splashing them randomly with cups of water. All of them were wet at the end of the day and so was the floor. It took half an hour to clean the deck with 3 squigees and like 7 pails of water. Me and Calvin were like tired to the bone after all the cleaning was done. Damn stubborn, this soap foam.

Final clash came next and we went over to help out with the logistics. Lots of pails to carry. Was alloted as a barrier-judge. Some guy molested a girl (i'm thinking its a girl, cos only ultra-sensitive guys would complain, unless its really blatant and in-your-face). The final bit was very high with the splashing of the SLs and fellow programmers. Everybody got wet, everybody felt damn happy. The debriefing ended with photo-taking and mass dances. I almost tore off a piece of flesh off my foot while dancing, heng that it didn't happen. Dinner at CPF building, packing was such a chore, cos my luggage was huge (with the laptop and all). Should've went ahead with the other bag. -.-"

still the same shit...but not

ok, here I am, back from a 4D/3N camp over at TP.

i'm as tired as a kenyan marathoner. I still owe myself some sleep, some care and some sleep. that's right, i said sleep twice, if you've bothered to count or read the first few lines. i slept on an average of 2 hours per day and worked about 16 hours in those days. that kinda explains why we were all zoned almost all the time.

i swear, i initially regretted signing up as a programmer, but as the days went by, that regression took itself away. i now regret that time flew by so fast that the camp is over. I think some words need to be said: PROGRAMMERS, YOU GUYS ROCK MY SOCKS.

ok, i shall continue when i have the energy. i'm still as hyped as i was yesterday and as energized as an 80 year old man in bed. (ok, not really)
